The Meaning and History of the OPO Logo

The logo selected by OPO is a silver
coin from the Achaean city of Metapontum, where Pythagoras
finally taught and died. It was founded on the Gulf of Taranto
in the 7th Century BCE. The ear of barley that symbolized that city
can now represent the planetary spread of our tradition. When and where barley
was domesticated is in dispute, but it is now grown all over the world. Food
and drink made from it is said to bring strength, alertness, and active
thinking.
